Five Minute Friday
 Forever Friends…
but don’t shoot the messenger

I have just returned from having dinner with the Grade Two Mums.
This was the school year that our kids were in when we first met.
Once a Grade Two Mum, always a Grade Two Mum!

These are amongst the first friends I made when we arrived in Australia.
I remember standing in the sweltering hot school yard waiting for the kids to come out of class and hoping that I would find some nice other Mums to talk to.
It might be hard being the new kids in class,
but it was just as hard being the new mum in the playground.
Our kids, now all at university and beyond are planning their school reunion
It was ten years ago since they left primary school.
There is much excitement,
although some kids have move away, like my daughter
who will still be in Africa, most will be there for the reunion.

The Grade Two Mums and I have friendships
that have lasted fourteen years now.
For our family constantly on the move that’s forever friends!

We’ve lived in Europe and Asia in the middle
but actually I’ve just notched up my tenth year of living Down Under…

We meet once in a blue moon to “catch up”
We went to a local Japanese restaurant and shared a banquet.
Between the miso soup and the green tea ice-cream we had much ground to cover…
But that’s secret girls business
and if I told you I’d have to shoot you
… just saying!

Linked with Lisa-Jo Baker and her  Five Minute Friday friends for five minutes of unedited writing.  This week’s prompt is Messenger.  What has that got to do with Forever Friends I hear you say? Can you work it out?
