Happy Lunar New Year everyone! Whilst our Bangkok Chinese New Year celebrations were curtailed this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, no-one is going to stop the Artists in the Bangkok Community (ABC) Group from welcoming the Year of the Ox in their own creative ways.
I am happy to introduce you to the Artists in the Bangkok Community (ABC) Group who have been painting and creating in Bangkok for the past 14 years. They are always so kind and welcoming of me, that I wanted to shine a light on their beautiful work and because they are always open to new members should you be living in Bangkok.
But firstly let’s admire some more of their Chinese New Year artwork.
WHERE to FIND US
ABC meet each Wednesday morning between 10 – 1 pm at Bistro 33 restaurant in the downtown Bangkok Sukhumvit area. Bistro 33 kindly provide a venue in exchange for coffee and lunch orders.
HOW WE WORK
We have a beautiful light-filled room amongst the trees in which we create. There is no teacher, we provide the space in our busy diaries to commit to developing our art. All levels and all mediums are welcome. They are also very welcoming of this little wren blogger who once was intending on developing her artistic and creative skills but now mostly joins in to write and for the lovely lunch with this wonderful crowd!
JOIN OUR ART CHALLENGE
During our Covid 2020 year, the group continued to paint even in lockdown. When creative mojos were challenged, we set a weekly (now fortnightly) prompt. Please enjoy some of our work with the prompt Asian Ladies. And my contribution to this Ladies in Asia as published in Expat Life In Thailand.
Asian Ladies prompt: Artists in the Bangkok Community
NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME!
The success of this group has been largely because of its open-door policy which meant as people left Bangkok, new ones came and joined us. The fluidity of its membership has provided its multinational essence and culture and also constantly inspired members to travel and paint.
FOR MORE INFORMATION AND TO JOIN:
If you would like to read more about this group and for contact details please check out my full article in Expat Life In Thailand here. We would love you to come and join us!
Wherever you are reading this do stop by to say hello. Wishing you the best Year of the Ox, which is said to bring stability and calmness. Bring it on!

I am definitely ready for a year that embodies the traits of the ox. It’s interesting that there is such a big expat community in Bangkok. I learn something new whenever I visit.
Thank you Sallie – yes we are lucky to have such a lovely group of International Women in Bangkok there are many expat groups to join. I love ABC because we are all achieving something creative as well as catching up with each other and making new friends!

Wren – how wonderful to be part of this talented group! I admire their art very much. I especially like the portrait in the top middle of your final collage, for its subject and its artistry. Thanks for bringing this group to the attention of everyone at Mosaic Monday!

Cheers, Little Wandering Wren! May the Year of the Ox be a good one for us all. 🙂 The artists’ works are inspiring to me.
Love this art ! Here in Brussels and surroundings spring will move in after having -10 and snow for 3 days we are now going towards + 18° the lockdown still there and everybody slowly gets nuts ! If at least the cafés would open and you could have a drink outside, no nothing ! And as usual there is a mess here now with the vaccination, or there are not enough vaccins, or the flemish and the waloons have different ideas or the computers are down ! I think we are at the end of the list of vaccinated people !
