Hi! I'm Jenny, the founder of the award-winning travel blog Little Wandering Wren. As the Creator, Blogger, and Chief Explorer, I’m passionate about sharing lesser-known destinations and great hotels and resorts with fellow wanderers.
Travel has always been my true passion. As a third-culture kid who has lived an expat global life for over 30 years, my blog was established in 2012 to share and inspire fellow wanderers, particularly those in my over-50s (now over 60s!) age group, to discover the beauty of the world.
Alongside Mr. Wren, my zoologist, golf enthusiast, and Thailand-loving husband, we’ve embraced a post-retirement, global nomadic lifestyle, exploring the world together, one journey at a time.

My Global Nomad Wanderings

I’m a British and Australian dual national with over 30 years Expat experience throughout Asia, Australia and Europe.

My worldwide wanderings started at three years old when my family was posted to Singapore from the UK. So it’s no surprise to me that a global expat lifestyle raising our three third-culture kids would beckon. My home? Hmmm, that’s a tricky one, but isn’t that where I lay my hat?!

This blog started as Aussie Wandering Wren almost 15 years ago. I’ve been an Aussie Wren, a Thailand Blogger, and now a worldwide wanderer.

My Thailand Wanderings

Forty years ago, my Thailand love began as a wide-eyed backpacker, eager to explore the wonders of this amazing country. Fast forward to the present day, and Thailand has become more than just a destination; it’s been our home, a place of cherished memories and new discoveries.

Our honeymoon was fortuitously won at a school Ball raffle and took us back to the breathtaking landscapes of Northern Thailand, perfect for my soon to be husband and ex zoologist enjoying the serenity at the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp Chiang Rai. From there, family holidays took us and our three children to the sun-kissed shores of Koh Samui and Phuket.

In 2017, a new chapter began as empty nesters, embracing the expat life in Bangkok for Mr. Wren’s work. It was during this time that my passion for Thailand’s community tourism was ignited, a journey that would later lead me to be recognized as a winner of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s International Blogger competition in 2019.

Christmas of 2020 found us on the shores of Phuket, armed with little more than a couple of frocks and Mr. Wren’s trusty golf clubs. What started as a casual visit during a pandemic unable to travel out of Thailand, quickly transformed into being locked down in paradise, giving us a deep-seated love for the island, dispelling our previous notion that Phuket was solely for tourists.

Since then, Thailand has remained a steadfast destination in our lives even with Mr. Wren’s recent retirement.

From the pristine beaches of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan to the cultural riches of Nan, Surat Thani, and beyond, our adventures have taken us far and wide across this captivating country. Whether it’s the bustling streets of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai or the tranquil shores of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Yai Noi, each destination holds a special place in our hearts.

As we look ahead to the future, we eagerly anticipate sharing our continued wanderings with you, our readers. For in Thailand, there is always more to explore, more to discover, and more to love.

A staycation & Spa Queen

Embracing Wellness and Fitness Retreats has been a continuous source of joy for me, where I channel my inner Zen Wren at some of the most renowned Spas and Wellness Resorts worldwide.

In 2020, my evolution into a Hotel Expert began. Choosing to stay in Thailand throughout the pandemic, I embarked on a series of carefully selected hotel stays. This transformative experience led me on a journey to become the Staycation Queen of Thailand.

As an Expat lifestyle morphs into the new normal of Retirement Travel you can expect to find us enjoying life in Asia, Australia and Europe.

After 30 years of Expat life we enjoy our Slow Travels and having more time to explore the world in 2025.

I pride myself on feeling equally at home in the paddy fields of Thailand, a chambre d'hote in France or in a five-star luxury resort. One thing is for certain there is never a dull moment around here and I am delighted to have you along with me.
