Welcome to our Aussie summer holidays.
We’re on the Mornington Peninsula,
only an hours drive from Melbourne, Australia.

Melburnians are spoilt for choice for
local holiday options.
But it didn’t take long after our arrival Down Under for
‘The Pen’ to become our local holiday destination of choice.

Bayside or Oceanside the choice is yours

We especially love the choice of seaside and countryside.
Our lazy days soon fill up. We’re busy doing nothing!

lunch at a vineyard or pick your own strawberries at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm.

With an abundance of choice of things to do, and places to visit,
we find that everyday is different.

My Christmas holiday started at the Peninsula Hot Springs
bathing in the hot mineral waters
and enjoying a treatment at the Spa Dreaming Centre…
Everything else was Peninsula bliss after this!

Peninsula Hot Springs, Sorento’s Spiegel Tent or an Explorer bus tour

Boxing day finds us on the start line of the
annual Melbourne to Tasmania Yacht race
admiring some rather gorgeous boats…

From then onwards it’s our own race against time to fit in everything
we want to do before city life again beckons…

We love the pretty seaside villages of Sorrento and Portsea
and enjoy the magnificent walks along the ocean coastline
around Rye, St Andrews and Gunnamatta.

With endless beaches to choose from,
we decide depending on the weather, or what we feel like,
whether to walk, swim, surf or even fish and
whether to go to the calm bayside beaches
or the rugged ocean surfing beaches.

We’re very lucky to have patrolled ocean beaches and
our Surf Lifesavers do a fantastic job rescuing
holiday makers in trouble.

It’s a timely reminder to always swim between the flags!

Friends, dogs and kids come and go,
Melbourne relocates to the beach from Boxing day onwards
so it’s very social here in January…

Walking is one of our favourite activities – there are so many to choose from.
This year a highlight was the Portsea to Sorrento Artists Trail
Which takes you through the backyards of some amazing properties
with their private jetties and entertaining areas
How the other half live!

Another walk we always love is the walk to the very tip of the peninsula
at Point Nepean National Park.

We just love the views here
out into Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay.

The area is rich in history
and it’s fascinating to learn about the
early settlement, quarantine and defence of Victoria

Our summer holiday ends all to soon.
Hope you have enjoyed a little bit of our Aussie summer.
We head back to Melbourne sad to leave but excited for the
up coming summer of sport.

Sorry I’ve been a tad slow on my visits
One thing that is not crash hot on the Peninsula
is the internet connection!

Looking forward to catching up again soon.
