This walk has a little bit of everything
that I love about Australia.
The great outdoors;
forests, heathlands and grasslands,
uplifting birdsong and of course kangaroos!
Our walk was about 18km’s in total
but of course we tell everyone it’s well over 20k’s!
To ensure we’re not completely bush wrecked
we leave one car at the Cape Schanck light house car park,
Before you leave in your haste to start the walk,
stop by the Cape Schanck visitors hut for some useful maps.

Look out for the Mornington Peninsula National Park notes:
‘discovering Cape Schank‘
The other car we abandon at the intersection of Browns and Hyslops road,
From start to finish this walk is a photographers delight.
I just love these letterboxes!

The walk starts along the gravel country lane of Hyslops Road
for about 2km, or if you want to save time and energy,
for about 2km, or if you want to save time and energy,
some clever walkers left their cars further along the road…
but then they wouldn’t have the same sense of achievement
(or exhaustion) that we had!

After you reach Limestone Road
you enter Greens Bush.
You will find a wonderful eucalypt forest with
The track is well maintained and signed,
As we continue through Greens Bush,
through the stands of eucalyptus, fern fronds and banksia,
we decide this is one of the nicest walks ever!

At Rosebud-Flinders road continue towards Cape Schanck
along the Main Creek track
Bushrangers Bay track to Cape Schanck will take about an 1 hour
You get great views of Bushrangers Bay,
Out to sea, there is usually something to admire
on the Bass Strait coastline
This coastal nature walk has information boards
which cover the fauna and flora,
geology and social history of this unique area
If you have an energy left once you get back to the car
you can visit the main attraction here
the Cape Schanck light-station.
Or take the free board walk to the rock platform
and enjoy spectacular sea views.
You will see why Cape Schanck is a must visit,
one of the most popular places to visit on the Peninsula.
Be careful of the waves,
which sometimes come crashing over the boardwalk!
I hope you have enjoyed a little stroll in my part of Australia!
