At the peak of the season
there is football every day,
whether it was coaching, training or playing,
Not me, I hasten to add.
I’m just the unfit mother
who’s trying to keep up with the washing
and work out a vaguely reasonable time for dinner!
Fuel is very important for performance you know!
I think the Crazy Soccer Mum title is a tad unfair,
it comes from the day when I was chasing sponsorship money
for our community football team
and the PA to some local bigwig
forgot to press mute before she yelled:
‘Shane, we have some crazy soccer Mum on the phone,
Wanna talk to her’?
‘No!’ he yelled back…
Of course my friends have never let me forget that one.
Thanks Shane!
Thanks Shane!
So here we are,
nearly at the end of our 2014 football season.
Our family is involved with nine soccer teams at
school, university, club and community.
Club soccer kicked off with Men’s pre-season beach training in January
and our Football Federation Victoria matches started in March
for a twenty-two week season.
Football is our life for ten months a year.

It’s been a great season and a successful one.
For me a great season is an injury free one
and we are not yet there as we have
Women’s Premier League finals
and the Australian University Games in Sydney to get through,
before we can claim to be home and dry on that one!
Let’s just say we all needed a holiday.
So we have taken three nights away in the Gold Coast
for some winter sun and much needed rest and recuperation.
Our flight was late on Saturday as you guessed it,
we had to come after a soccer match!
It has been great to enjoy some fresh sea air
and some adrenalin thrills at DreamWorld.
Now we’re just off for some beach soccer,
anyone want to play?!
