Hello everyone, I hope all is good with you. I’m having the time of my life at the moment! If I thought my wanderings at Glastonbury Festival were a highlight of my summer/life, then think again. Along comes my amazing Thailand ‘Open to the New Shades’ blog winners trip.
I am now in my third continent in as many weeks. Coming to you now from Australia and just about to go outback, off the grid for the weekend. Before I do I wanted to give you a glimpse into this past weekend.
OPEN TO THE NEW SHADES
This tour was all about promoting off the beaten track Thailand
So grab yourself a cuppa, take a pew and enjoy some of the photos from my recent trip to Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri and Khao Yai provinces. These provinces are all within two to three hours of Bangkok and make a wonderful weekend away.

It’s going to be a BIG weekend, so how about we stop for a cuppa on the way at the Coffee and Tree Cafe, Klong 15, Nakhon Nayok?

We are going to have endless amazing meals. Do you have a favourite Thai dish? I just love all the fresh farm to table dishes we ate over this weekend.
We went quad biking on these ATV vehicles, so much fun. And no, I’m not the one in the ditch!

We saw temples like at the Ganesha Park, where we found the largest Ganesha in Thailand: Nakhon Nayok, Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok 26000, Thailand

We loved the beautiful scenery and waterfalls in Khao Yai National Park including the famous Haew Suwat Waterfall filmed in The Beach with Leonardo Di Caprio…

We saw nature at her stormy, rainy, lush green best…
We saw the picturesque scenery and learned about King Rama 9’s vision at Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam.

We had my best Thai massage ever at Chao Praya Aphaiphubet Hospital...
and enjoyed learning more about Thai traditional medicine...
We went wandering and found some incredible butterflies…

All in all, it was a stunning weekend. I was not surprised by the beauty of the area, nor the incredible foods on offer but I was surprised at the variety of activities packed into one small area of Thailand…

What was special about this Amazing Thailand long weekend is that it was all just outside Bangkok so we went by car. I can’t wait to show my family, friends and dear readers this region which can be easily reached for a day trip or long weekend from Bangkok. I hope you’ll come back for a longer tour later!

What a fabulous time!
I am still pinching myself at the fabulous time I had Fiona! It was a combination of an action-packed trip where I did not have to organise a thing myself (as the resident tour planner in our house this was a real treat!) The places we went to, some of which I knew, but others I would never have found on my own and the people. The organisers, the other Bloggers were great fun, the people we met everywhere in the Land of Smiles just made the trip. Still beaming here!

Wren – welcome back to Mosaic Monday and thanks for linking! I love the look of the Tree Café – it does not take much to convince me to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with views such as that. My favorite Thai dish is Pad Thai. I was curious about the quad bike picture – they are so close together – are they connected somehow? Enjoy your week!
Oh my gosh, Angie – that ATV Quad biking was so much fun! We ended up arriving just after a torrential downpour – we are in the middle of the raining season and so we whizzed through rivers and muddy puddles and we are all mud-splattered and laughing by the end of it! The countryside is so beautiful in this region. This photo was taken just as we all set off so we were well grouped together. The organisers do a good job to ensuring that everyone is together and comfortable.
I so wish I could have a coffee and a natter with you at Coffee and Tree cafe – there is a big wow to this venue, other than the setting which I will show you in following posts.
